On the 10 November, 1866 Robert Kirk Inches and his uncle, James Hamilton opened their first premises at 90A Princes Street, under the name Hamilton & Inches. James Hamilton had been for more than 20 years, principle assistant with an old established firm which had previously occupied the premises. This was to become the first home of H&I, now currently a branch of The Body Shop.
