Since 1882 the 4 Home Unions have shed blood, sweat and tears to get their hands on the Triple Crown. The first winners were Wales in 1893, and it's been won another 59 times since. Yet, unbelievably, until 2006, there was never an actual prize to hold aloft in victory. Now that's all changed. RBS in conjunction with the 6 Nations Committee commissioned Hamilton & Inches silver craftsmen to create a Triple Crown Trophy. And, of course, the first proud victors were Ireland after their memorable match with England on the final day of the Championship, 2006.
Designed by Nicola Williams to complement the existing tournament trophy, the Triple Crown is a spectacular plate featuring the emblems of the four Home Unions' sides with a 'triple crown' motif in the centre. It took over 250 hours to make, weighs in at 3kg of sterling silver, measures 42cm in diameter and is 5cm deep. All hand crafted by the skilled and highly experienced team in Hamilton & Inches workshop.
