Bench Jeweller

JOB PURPOSE

To assess, alter, and repair all types of fine jewellery, including setting gemstones, as required. To create bespoke pieces of fine jewellery on request. To advise colleagues and customers regarding repairs, alterations and creation of new pieces.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Manage workload to ensure customer deadlines are met.
Support the Workshops and Showroom as required, including at customer events.
Ensure customer repairs are carried out to the highest quality standards.
Support production of special commissions for clients.
Maintain accurate records of work undertaken.
Take responsibility for a safe working environment in the workshop ensuring all health and safety policies and procedures are adhered to.
Maintain client confidentiality at all times.
Represent the brand image of Hamilton & Inches ensuring positive impact and image on customers.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS / ABILITIES

Able to assess and repair a wide variety of items in gold, silver and platinum. Knowledge of other metals such as titanium and palladium is also desirable.
Proficient at setting gemstones into fine pieces.
Ability to create bespoke pieces (with external design input) from fine materials.
Able to interact in a positive manner with customers on the showroom floor. Must be able to provide clear and concise advice regarding repairs, alterations and bespoke pieces.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

Minimum three to five years of experience in the trade and completion of apprenticeship, or relevant professional qualifications from an accredited UK body.
Experience repairing customer’s fine pieces, including high value pieces.
Experience creating bespoke fine pieces. Experience working to tight deadlines and to a high quality.
Knowledge of fine metals and gemstones in relation to the creation of and repair of a variety of pieces.
Experience with laser welding machinery would be beneficial but not essential.
Willingness and flexibility to attend events on behalf of the company during evenings and weekends.

HOURS OF WORK

3 days per week, with the potential to increase to 5 days. Hours will be 8.45am – 5.15pm.
We can be flexible with regards to which days are worked.

SALARY

Salary offered will be commensurate with experience.
