Hamilton & Inches has been appraising and valuing jewellery and watches in Edinburgh for over 100 years. Our in-house valuer is third generation jeweller Jilly Pollard, who has more than 40 years’ experience and is one of the best in the industry.
WHAT DOES IT INVOLVE?
Valuations involve stone tests, metal tests and extensive research to produce detailed schedules and item descriptions. It is helpful to provide your own previous valuations, gemstone certificates and original invoices for cross-referencing.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
Reasons for valuations differ, as do the results. For example you might need to know the value of your treasures for insurance or for probate purposes. Insurance valuations will give the equivalent retail price. Probate valuations will give a value similar to auction price.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
Timescales for valuations range from hours to weeks and depend upon the nature and quantity of your treasures. We will give you an indication of delivery dates and fees before commencing work on your behalf.
HOW SHOULD I PROCEED?
Our in-house valuer Jilly would be delighted to discuss your valuation needs. Please get in touch to arrange an appointment.
