In August this year, we embarked on a new brand campaign, ‘Crafted from Passion’. With a new energy and confidence, an acknowledgement of looking to the future with eyes on a contemporary global luxury market whilst being respectful of our 152-year-old heritage and loyal customer base. We wanted to create an aspirational campaign where luxury meets the beauty of the Scottish wilderness. An aesthetic where beauty lies in man’s creation as well as miracles of nature.
We then looked to bring onboard the esteemed and gifted director and photographer Laurence Dunmore. Dunmore, a director with an illustrious and prolific career spanning 30 years, one that has reaped multiple Cannes Lions, BTAA arrows and D&AD pencils, immediately chimed with H&I’s desire and swiftly created the art direction for the campaign stills and narrative for the accompanying film.
Scottish actor and former Scottish rugby international Craig McGinlay plays our hero. Having recently featured in Outlander and Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur, we feel privileged to be part of Craig’s ascension in the acting world.
We were equally lucky to have Viola Marx as our heroine. Viola, a model from Dundee, who ably personifies the beauty, modernity and confidence. We expect to see her star rise and, again, we are privileged to be part of her journey.
The stills and film were shot over a two day period in the majestic cold bottle-green waters some nautical miles from Gallanach. Art directed and realised by Dunmore, the film and photographic crew were entirely Scottish.
