ROLEX COSMOGRAPH DAYTONA
Created in 1963, the legendary Rolex Cosmograph Daytona is the benchmark for those with a passion for driving and motor sport. The iconic model was designed to meet the timing needs of professional endurance racing drivers. It is fitted with a high-performance mechanical movement, entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex.
THE RACING DRIVERS’ WATCH
Thanks to its precision, reliability and the outstanding legibility of its functions, it is the instrument of choice for measuring elapsed time and determining average speeds. Time intervals can be measured to within one-eighth of a second with the centre chronograph seconds hand, while the two counters on the dial at 9 and 3 o’clock display elapsed time in hours and minutes respectively.
MADE FOR THE ROAD
Named after the 1960s’ speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, the Cosmograph Daytona features a tachymetric scale engraved on the bezel to read average speed over a given distance based on elapsed time. Its position on the bezel keeps the dial free and offers optimal legibility. The tachymeter makes the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona the ideal instrument for measuring speeds up to 400 units per hour in miles, kilometres or any other unit of measure.
Like all Rolex watches, each Rolex Cosmograph Daytona is fitted with a COSC-certified chronometer – a successfully and thoroughly tested self-winding mechanical movement – and is certified to perform at a superlative level as a fully assembled watch. The superlative certification assessment conditions exclusive to Rolex exceed those of watchmaking norms and simulate real-life watch wearing, giving a more representative experience to guarantee performance on the wrist.
The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona is highly sought after and as such, is often not on display at 87 George Street, Edinburgh. To enquire as to the model’s availability, or to view the other watches in our extensive collection, please contact the experts at our showroom in Edinburgh.
